As Taylor Swift wisely said, “Just because you made a good plan doesn’t mean that’s what’s going to happen.”

Unfortunately Professor Nicola Spurrier has regrettably had to cancel her guest speaker presentation as a result of a national health committee meeting now being scheduled at the same time.

 Guest Speaker Professor Suzanne Watt

Suzanne Watt

We are very fortunate to have Suzanne (Sue) Watt PhD, FRCPath Emeritus Professor of Haematology, University of Oxford, United Kingdom and Adjunct Professor, SAHMRI and University of Adelaide now as our guest speaker to recognise International Women’s Day 2021.

The Long and Winding Road

Suzanne will share with us details of the outstanding women scientists who changed science and influenced her career, she will also talk about her leading research and how she encountered Coronaviruses.

Having lived in the UK for 40 years, Suzanne was in the process of returning to live in Australia when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Thankfully she arrived in Adelaide in March last year and has since decided to settle here.

About Emeritus Professor Suzanne Watt

Suzanne Watt is an Emeritus Professor of Haematology at Oxford University, and about 12 months ago became an Adjunct Professor located in SAHMRI at the University of Adelaide.

Suzanne received her PhD from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne, in 1980 and subsequently undertook postdoctoral research at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford and Cancer Research UK. Her work has concentrated mainly on blood stem cells.

Suzanne has published more than 150 articles in international journals and has been awarded over 50 grants for her research projects. She has also participated in and managed a number of EU projects.
