The Rotary Club of Adelaide held its first meeting on 24 August 1923. Officially chartered by Rotary International on 4 February 1924 and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Melbourne, most Rotary Clubs in South Australia can trace their origins to this event.

The first Club sponsored by Rotary Adelaide was Mount Gambier in 1928 followed by Unley in 1935 and Port Adelaide in 1946. After the Second World War Rotary saw rapid expansion across South Australia so that today there are over eighty clubs across the geographical area of District 9510 which roughly maps to the state of South Australia, some parts of the Northern Territory, NSW and Victoria.

The Founders Day lunch will include Rotary members past and present, families and friends plus many service recipients and representatives from organisations we have supported over the past 100 years.

The Welcome to Country will be given by Kaurna Elder Uncle Rod O’Brien, Hon Member Rotary Club of Adelaide.

Our MC is Mike Smithson, 7 News Presenter, Chief Reporter and a former Rotaractor.

Guest speakers include Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC Governor of South Australia, Patron of the Centenary of Rotary Adelaide and Rotary in South Australia and The Hon Rev Lynn Arnold AO.

We look forward to welcoming you to this very special event.
