Learn more about our Club
Our website covers quite a bit about Rotary and the Rotary Club of Adelaide in particular.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss what we do and how we work with prospective members, in person.
However, let’s spend a few moments to cover some fundamentals about the Rotary Club of Adelaide.
Sure, we are one of the oldest and largest Rotary Clubs in Australia with a proud history of doing good work in communities locally and internationally.
But we are more than that.
You may have heard that Rotary and perhaps even our Club, is for older men with a business background and rules about meeting attendance and so on.
That’s not quite true.
The Rotary Club of Adelaide has changed, and continues to evolve into a more contemporary organisation, to reflect the diversity of our community.
We have a lot of young members, many with families. We have members from a variety of cultural backgrounds, many of whom have chosen to migrate to Adelaide and simply contribute to society.
Our Club has welcomed and celebrated female members for many years proactively supporting International Women’s Day as well as those organisations in our city that specifically work for the wellbeing and interests of women. Our work to support Catherine House is but one example. Women hold leadership positions on our Board and lead committees.
But there’s even more to us.
The spirit of volunteering is alive and well amongst us. Our members regularly participate in a variety of roles to assist at fundraising events, community events such as the Pageant and in “hands on” projects.
And this is done in a spirit of fun and engagement. We are not stuffy, our meetings are short on procedure and pomp, and long on socialising!
Take a look around our website and please give us a call so that we can meet and chat.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
